HONG KONG: PSY swept four awards at the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in Hong Kong on Friday --
Best Dance Performance Solo, International Favourite Artist, Best Music Video and one of MAMA's grand prize, Song of the Year.
Giving his acceptance speech for the International Favourite Artist award, PSY said: "I just saw you guys singing to my song! This is strange!"
PSY, whose real name is Park Jae-sung, added that 2012 will be a year he "can't forget" and thanked all his international fans for their support towards his hit song "Gangnam Style."
And it was not just his fans that were infatuated with PSY and "Gangnam Style", many celebrities at the music awards show were infected by the PSY-syndrome too.
Hong Kong star Simon Yam showed off PSY's renowned "Gangnam Style" dance moves at the red carpet before the awards ceremony started while Jackie Chan called PSY a role model that proved that "dreams do come true."
Aside from PSY, the annual Asia music festival also saw many Korean artistes such as Big Bang, SISTAR (who walked away with the Best Male Group and Best Female Group award respectively), as well as international stars like B.o.B and Adam Lambert.
While Adam Lambert did his usual rock performances of "Whataya want from me" and "Trespassing", B.o.B collaborated with Korean singers Seo In Young and K.Will and performed his hit songs "Airplane" and "Nothin' on You", which was refreshing to say the least.
Other performances that impressed were that of Korean audition programmes Superstar K's winner Roy Kim and K-pop Star's runner-up Lee Hayi.
Even though it was their first major performance, Kim's crisp vocals in "My Way" and Lee's hauntingly-beautiful performance with hip-hop group Epik High just left the audience dumbfounded.
Epik High's solo performance was another epic one.
The trio, Tablo, Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz, gave the audience a shock as they performed "Don't Hate Me" while fully made-up and dressed as the Joker, Bane and Harvey Dent, characters from the movies "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises".
With their ripped smiles and half-burned faces, they looked simply terrifying.
But with their infectious high-energy, these 'terrifying characters' still had everyone in the audience singing and dancing along with them.
The final performer of the night also got the whole hall singing and dancing along with him.
It was PSY, who 'dressed classy, and danced cheesy' during his performance of "Gangnam Style".
The spectacle of thousands of celebrities and audience members dancing in sync to the signature horse-dance moves was just the perfect ending to this year's MAMA.
